breastfeeding is hard

breastfeeding is hard

i feel like, the firstsix weeks were so hard. i, i didn't know how hard they'dbe, and so it kind of scared me and made me think, "am i alwaysgonna be so overwhelmed, "am i never gonna sleep, and is breastfeeding always gonna be this challenging?" and... no. it's not. i mean, i got the hang of it anddenver and i got into a routine. and we began to justwork well together.

now, nursing is, i mean,it's wonderful. those few times a day wherei nurse him, it's like, that's mommy and denver time. and we get to kind of snuggletogether and quiet down together and i love it. it's just, it's cool to knowthat we can have that kind of relationship, that i can sodirectly impact his health and his growth,so early in life.

breastfeeding inverted nipples

breastfeeding inverted nipples

my nipples are leaking fluid, should i beworried? this is an important subject. let me share some information with you about this. one of the very common complaints that i dealwith as a breast surgeon is the issue of fluid coming out of the nipple when you are notpregnant and you are not obviously breastfeeding and the kind of fluid that can come out ofthe nipple include things like blood, includes sort of a watery greenish fluid. it can bea rust color fluid. it can actually be milk and yet you are not pregnant and have notbeen recently breastfeeding. it can be almost toothpaste like sticky material that can comeout of the nipple and the people are constantly concern do i have breast cancers, is thisfinding for breast cancer and the answer is

that the typical or usual breast cancer isnot, i repeat not associated with the nipple discharge. this is particularly true for abloody nipple discharge. in fact, the vast-vast majority of bloody nipple discharges are froma benign disorder called an intra meaning inside, ductal inside the duct papilloma fancyword for overgrowth of the tissue that lines the ducts and they get rough you well andthey can discharge blood. now because cancers can in fact do this, we always work thesepatients up completely and the workup would include mammograms, would include an ultrasoundexamination and sometimes, but not very common at all would include a breast mri exam. familyhistory is important that we take that in when we talk about women with nipple dischargesas well. the vast majority of nipple discharges

that i have seen throughout my career areactually women in their 40s and it's associated with fibrocystic changes of the breast, cystsform in the breast, ducts dilate up, there is an entity called ductal ectasia big fancyword for an unknown reason that ducts can dilate up, it can be associated with a nippledischarge. the sticky discharge that i was talking about a minute ago can often comefrom this unusual entity called duct ectasia, so if you do have a nipple discharge, youdo need to be evaluated. you need to see your physician, at a minimum you need an ultrasoundexamination, but it frankly should be coupled with a mammogram particularly if you haven'thad one. now, if we see an abnormality in the ductal system then what is typically doneis what's called the ductogram, a very-very

fine catheter is threaded down inside theduct that we see having the fluid come out of it, we then gently inject a contrast materialso that we can see what's going on inside the duct and often that scheduled on the sameday that surgery is scheduled, so if we see something, we can go immediately to the operatingroom and take it out. once again, vast majority of nipple discharges are not breast cancer.however, they do need to be evaluated, make sure that you see competent, educated physicians, and people dealing with breast disease to have such an evaluation.

breastfeeding in spanish

breastfeeding in spanish

i thought it was ok. i could understand the reasons. they said there might be a man or a nervous child seeing this small piece of flesh that they weren't quite expecting. so i whispered and tiptoed with nervous discretion but after six months of her life sat sitting on lids, sipping on milk, nostrils sniffing on piss-- trying not to bang her head on toilet dispensers. i wonder whether these public loo feeds offend her.

cos i'm getting tired of discretion and being polite. as my baby's first sips are drown-drenched in shite. i spent the first feeding months of her beautiful life feeling nervous and awkward and wanting everything right. surrounded by family till i stepped out the house it took me eight weeks to get the confidence to go into town, now the comments around me cut like a knife, as i rush into toilet cubicles feeling nothing like nice. because i'm giving her milk that's not in a bottle

wishing the cocaine generation of white powder would topple us see, pyramid sales pitches across our green globe and female breasts banned. unless they're out just for show. and the more i go out the more i can't stand it. i walk into town, feel i'm surrounded by bandits cos in this country of billboards covered in tits and family newsagents full of it w h smith top shelves out for men, why don't you complain about them then?

in this country of billboards covered in tits and family newsagents magazines full of it. w h smiths top shelves out for men i'm getting embarrassed incase a small flash of flesh might offend. and i am not trying to parade this. i don't want to make a show. but when i'm told i'd be better just staying at home and when another friend i know is thrown off a bus and another mother told to get out of a pub even my grandma said maybe i was "sexing it up".

and i'm sure the milk-makers love all this fuss. all the cussing and worry and look disgust as another mother turns from nipples to powder. ashamed, or embarrassed about comments around her, and as i hold her head up and pull my cardi across and she sips on that liqueur made by everyone's god, i think for god's sake jesus drank it so did siddhartha, mohammed, and moses and both of their fathers

ganesh and shiva and brigid and buddha and i'm sure they weren't doing it sniffing on shit as their mothers sat embarrassed on cold toilet lids in a country of billboards covered in tits. in a country of low-cut tops, cleavage and skin and in a country of cloth bags and recycling bins. and as i desperately try to take all of this in i hold her head up, i can't get my head round the anger towards us and not to the sounds of lorries offloading formula milk

into countries where water runs dripping in filth, in towns where breasts are oasis' of life now dried up in two for one offers, enticed by labels logos and gold standard rights claiming breast milk is healthier powdered and white. packaged and branded and sold at a price so that nothing is free and this money-fueled life, which is fine if you need it or prefer to use bottles where water is clean and bacteria boiled but in towns where they drown in pollution and sewage bottled kids die and they knew that they'd do it.

in towns where pennies are savoured like sweets, we end up paying for one thing that has always been free. in towns empty of hospital beds babies die, diarrhea, fueled that breast milk would end so no more will i sit on these cold toilet lids no matter how embarrassed i feel as she sips. cos' in this country of billboards covered in tits i think i should try to get used to this.

breastfeeding in public

breastfeeding in public

hey guys! welcome back to another episodeof nguyen's world. every mom has a different comfort level when it comes to breastfeeding in public. for me, i was extremely nervous, and it took me sometime to build my confidence and get used to my new routine. if you're a breastfeedingmom, you know that breastfeeding in public is sometimes unavoidable. so today i'm goingto share with you my 5 tips to help you feel more confident about breastfeeding in public. tip #1 nurse right before your activities.(or as my husband likes to call it, pre-gaming) by doing this, you can maximize the amountof time you have while you're out and about, before your baby's next feeding. i usually nurse in the car when we get to our destination.

tip #2: feed your baby before she cries. payattention to your baby's feeding cues and anticipate when you think she'll be hungry.then offer your breast to her and see if she'll feed. you want to do this early enough toavoid waiting until your baby is screaming and crying, which will draw even attentionto you. a crying baby is more impatient and may result in a poor latch or fussiness whenfeeding. tip #3: find a spot where you and your babywill feel comfortable and relaxed. if you're in a restaurant, try sitting in a booth orsit at table that's facing away from people. if you're out shopping, you can nurse inthe fitting room. if you're at the park, you can breastfeed sitting on a bench. youwant to find a place where you can sit comfortably

with support for your back and that has lesstraffic, to avoid bringing attention to yourself. which brings me to my next tip, wear clothesthat you can easily nurse in. you don't even have to buy expensive nursing tops. youcan basically just wear anything that opens up in the front, like a button-down blouse or a top with a stretchy neck.my favorite is wearing a loose fitting t-shirt that you can just lift up.i usually wear a tank top underneath that just to cover my belly. and i saved the best for last. practice nursing in a baby carrier. once you have mastered this, you will findbreastfeeding in public much easier. we have the ergo baby carrier and after i learnedhow to breastfeed in it, i just felt so relieved

to know that i could breastfeed her anytimeshe needed to and i didn't have to worry about scooting off to some dark corner tofeed her. natalie loves being in the baby carrier and if she wants to breastfeed, ijust make a few adjustments and cover her head and people just think she's asleep.and i still have my hands free to do whatever i need to do and walk around at the same time!this tip has absolutely become a lifesaver for us. so i hope you found this video helpful. pleasegive this video a thumbs up if you did and don't forget to subscribe by clicking thelink right here. and let me know in the comments below if you have any tips for breastfeedingin public. thank you so much for watching

and i'll see you in the next video. bye!
